In October, I left my firm and the active practice of law to pursue my dream of becoming a fulltime mediator. It is the rare case that is resolved through trial. Mediations have become the number one way cases are resolved.
During my 37-year career as a litigator, I participated in hundreds of mediations representing parties in the mediation. However, the skillset to be a successful mediator differs from the skillset to be an effective advocate in a mediation. I have seen many lawyers decide to become mediators without any mediation specific training. Despite their extensive experience representing parties in mediations, they are not effective as mediators. For this reason, I decided I should obtain mediation training before embarking on opening a mediation practice.

I have completed 56 hours of mediation training. In 2023, I completed a two-hour program, Fundamentals of Mediation, sponsored by the Ohio Supreme Court, the course required to be court appointed mediator in Ohio. I also completed a 14-hour program sponsored by Partners In Mediation, Inc., Basic Mediation Training. Finally, in November 2025, I completed a 40-hour class through Northwestern University School of Professional Studies. The program consisted of training on effective techniques and tools for a mediator in addition to simulated mediations during which I acted as a mediator.

I am available to do full day or half day mediations. I am also able to do in person, remote or hybrid mediations.

I am also available to do arbitrations. Please visit my website, www.mccartneymediationservices.com, or call me at 283.237.8079 to learn more about me or to schedule a mediation. I look forward to working with you.
